Postcard From Ngoenga - February 06

WELL, HERE I AM sitting in a shed next to a Tibetan monk/s monastery writing this with, of course, Tibetan Monks hanging out ... and playing cricket (as you do!) I have been in India just one week and my jippy tum is settling into the new food quite qell.

After 4 days in Dehli, which is the busiest, dustiest, noisiest place I have ever been to, I set off on the Shabati "Express". Dawn rose over the litter which decorates every inch of soil round Dehli ... plastic bags should be banned!

As we crept further north the land became more visible and farms and mountains appeared through the dustry train window. So here I am at Ngonga school. today I spent time with the very special needs class ...children with multiple disabilities. The teachers are wonderful and doing their best in very poorly-equipped rooms. The kids are patient and are very loving and greet me with a huge smile and a bow. It is early days yet but I know I will be able to help in many ways. I am happy to be here and of service to the school.

I am off to cook soup from vegs I bought off a trolley, otherwise I usually eat Tibetan food which is basic but good. I am losing my jelly belly by the day!

'Tashi Delek' to you all from the beautiful mountains (the Tibetans don't know the name of them!)
